No Longer Needed…..

Little Addie no longer  placed in her bed to squirm around a bit and fall asleep.  The Dr said that self soothing would be one of the next signs of development but I wasn’t expecting it to happen so suddenly, no gradual change, just cold turkey.

Is it weird that this made me just a little sad.  Of course I am happy that we no longer need to walk or rock her for hours at night to fall asleep and we can start to get a little more sleep at night ourselves.

This is a good change, I just wasn’t expecting it so suddenly.

First Trip to Childress

This weekend we made Addie’s first trip to Childress.  We were a little anxious for the 4 and a half hour car ride as our little Love Bug is NOT a fan of her car seat.  (We are super excited to get the new and different car seat this week since we have to replace it after a small car accident a week ago)

Addie was such a trooper, she did an AWESOME job in the car.  She only woke up to eat once on the way there and we ALMOST made it all the way home without her waking up, with just 15 minutes to spare she was awake and starving :)

It was a great trip.  We got to meet cousin Libby who is 4 and a half months old, she is such a doll.  She is super cute with a full head of hair.

We also got to meet cousin Abbie, who is 6 months old, she is just as cute as she can be.

Yes…my 7 week old baby is pretty much the same size as the 6 month old…..RIDICULOUS :)

We had lots of family time, which included a lot of stories and lots of eating.  I think it is so ironic that all the 3 Seal boys will have baby girls this year.  Dan and Nikki are expecting a little girl on October 13th (dave’s birthday)

As always it was a whirlwind of a weekend but it was a great time to see everyone and finally introduce Addie to her Grandpa Seal.G-pa & addie

YEAH for Sleep

Before little Addie came into our lives I told myself that the period of sleepless nights would be such a small percentage of our lifetime and that we would survive….holy geez is that hard to remember when you pace your house trying to get your little one down in the middle of the night.  Honestly, it hasn’t been bad at all,  I do feel blessed with her sleep schedule.  For the past few weeks she has only been getting up 2-3 times at night, she will eat and immediately go back down to sleep which is awesome.

This last night this little one shocked us last night.  We were out at an event for Dave’s work, an outdoor event…just as the worst storm ever blew through we headed for cover and of course she slept right through the craziness.  After waiting out the storm in the bar with everyone else we decided to hit the road to get home in time for her next feeding (8:30).  We transferred her into the dreaded car seat that she HATES.  I made the drive home thinking I would find a restless little one but nope, still out like a light.  Of course I don’t wake her.  She shocked us both to sleep in her car seat until midnight…are you kidding.  I think I am in for a long night but thankfully, I change her, feed her and 10 minutes later she is out again…..YEAH for sleep.  Little Addie slept until 10 in the morning with only 2 short instances of awake time to be fed….YEAH for sleep.   It is nights like last night that make it feel as though we will soon not feel like zombies :)
