Okay, well maybe she’s not a model, but she looks pretty darn cute if you ask me.
That’s right, I’m rolling! I love to roll and can no longer be left alone on high surfaces :) I also love to tell you about it :)
Addie has always been our squirmy wormy since she was born but this week she has finally figured out how to turn over. Earlier this week when I went to get her for her 3:00 AM feeding, instead of laying on her tummy she turned over and was so excited to see me come in, despite my exhaustive state I couldn’t help but smile seeing her big smile on her face…it was too cute.
Addie is finding her voice more and more and if you give her the attention she will talk to you for as long as you will give her. She cracks us up with her inflection in her voice as if she is really trying to tell you a story about her day.
Dave has loved his first 3 weeks home with Addie, he has decided to take off the full 12 weeks before he goes back to work. I am so grateful for this decision as it will give her more family time before we have to take her to daycare.
Monday came and went. Addie was a superstar and slept thru the night on Sunday so I was able to get my 7 hours in before getting ready to work which was awesome.
As usual Dave captured the morning with plenty of pictures and video to remember the event. He made me an incredible collage of our favorite pics of Addie from the past 3 months which is displayed proudly on my desk.
I get teary eyed when I leave but I know she’s in good hands. We are all learning our new roles and managing the transition really well.
Here are just a few of my favorite pics from that collage -
A little smile :)
Tomorrow I officially join the ranks of all the working moms out there. I can’t believe my 12 weeks are already up. I never thought I would feel like I do. I am very anxious to go back to work, but I wonder if I had made the decision to stay home if I would have the urge to be working.
I am extremely grateful for my situation, I couldn’t ask for a more supportive husband who is willing and excited about the idea to stay home with Addie for 12 weeks to prolong her time at home before she starts daycare. I am grateful for the flexibility to have a choice on what we can do, if I/we decide that working outside the home is just too difficult I don’t have to.
I am praying for the strength to make it through the day tomorrow for all 3 of us :)
Okay, okay….time really is flying!!! I can’t believe she is already 12 weeks old and I go back to work….tear :(
This past week was filled with lots of adventures for the little one. We ventured out to Childress again and she traveled even better this time around if that’s possible. We had guests stay with us for the week and took Addie with us all over the place….the aquarium, the malls, Chuy’s and a few BBQ’s. She was such a trooper and rarely made a peep when we were out.
Addie is much more aware of her surroundings, she loves to check out any new place we go to. She is extremely alert and loves to talk. She loves when you lay next to her and she will just tell you all about her day :) She has found her arms and her hands, most of the time she is trying to figure out how she can stick both hands in her mouth at once. She is a little shy, she doesn’t mind meeting new people or being held by others but she is much more reserved with new faces. It takes her a little bit to warm up to you and share her big smile with you. This week she even treated us with sleeping through the night 3 nights in a row. I am hoping she continues this trend as it will make it so much easier to get up in the morning when I have to go to work.
I thank God everyday for our little blessing. We have a great baby and I am so thankful for her and excited to watch her grow.
We braved our first family flight at 10 weeks this past week. We headed to Cincinnati for Grandpa Remke’s birthday and the Leonhardt family reunion. It was a great trip as we got to go with most of the family and catch up with our extended family in a whirlwind weekend.
We stayed at Aunt Karen who had enough for all 9 of us…it was so great to be able to stay at the same place. Unfortunately we had a rough start as Mom was checking out the new waterfall in the backyard and got a little too close to the curb with her face. Luckily no broken bones or teeth just a nice bruise and story.
Overall it was a great weekend, a little wet but thankfully not crazy hot. The kids all traveled well. There was a span on the way back on the plane on the way down I didn’t think we were going to make it as all 3 little ones were crying for what felt like forever but I am sure it was only a few minutes.
I am not sure if this will become a yearly tradition but hopefully we will be back up to Cincy sooner rather than later as it is always a good time catching up with everyone.

I love little Addie’s smile. She smiles ALL of the time and it cracks me up every time I see it. I have yet to capture her smile on camera…at least a picture that will do it justice. It is just so adorable. She will cry and I can pick her up and immediately she smiles when she sees me. She smiles in the middle of the night when it is time to eat or time for bed…she LOVES to smile.
This smile is making my heart ache for the days to come when I return to work as this is what I will miss the most in the beginning.
