For anyone that knows Addie’s dad you know he has a weird appreciation for personalized catch phrases. Well, it took him 12 months but Addie’s catch phrase is official.

Get it? It’s a play on Adios..I see this on many T-shirts to come.
These past 12 months I can honestly say have felt both like the longest and shortest 12 months of my life.
We had her check up last month and it went well. It was a rough one though with a finger prick and 3 shots, she was not a happy camper when we were leaving. Her stats were about what we expected
This one is an eater, she loves to eat almost anything. I am really hopeful that this will continue over the next few years…I hope I didn’t just jinx myself by saying that out loud.
Walking; she has really started to walk so much easier over the last month. She literally races all over the place.
Her sign language has really started to come to life. We easily recognize eat and milk. She also waves, blows kisses and gives high fives as long as not too many people are looking at her.
Her words are still hard to understand, but she is trying. We hear hi and bye anytime we are on the phone with our friends. We hear ball, mama and dada, but that is about it. She will carry on conversations with us for the longest times….I think she will be a talker like her daddy.
Playing outside is one of her favorite things to do, she loves being outdoors. I hope to get some good use out of her birthday present over the next couple of months.
Sleep is still a beautiful thing, we are still getting 2 1-1.5 hour naps a day plus her 11-12 hour night schedule.
One of the most joyful things I have learned over the last year is a cheesy thing, but it is true, it is hard to realize how much you can love someone until you become a parent. It is amazing, and I love every minute of it.
Happy Birthday sweet baby girl. We celebrated Addie’s 1st birthday over the weekend with a lot of our friends and family. On her actual birthday I took the day off and spent the day home. We didn’t do anything to out of the ordinary but we did get ourselves an afternoon treat of frozen custard and lemonade. We also picked up a fancy cupcake for her evening treat. She loved it, of course!
For her little party I didn’t think about making any type of theme until I saw a little butterfly craft and it took off from there.
We had a cute little welcome sign for our guests. Sweet, sweet Jordi made Addie the most adorable little butterfly outfit for her party, she was such a doll in it.
Once everyone was inside there were butterflies everywhere, I felt like a teacher preparing her room for her kids before the party.
We had Addie’s birthday present out in the back yard, luckily it provided enough entertainment for the little ones throughout the party.
We are so thankful for Dennis’ smokin’ skills, as his green egg provided more than enough food for the crew, we had smoked ribs, brisket & chicken. I only wish my brothers could of been there to enjoy some the feast, they would of have enjoyed it a little more than myself :) but it was pretty dang good.
We had little treats for the kiddos, a little flower pot with their gummy worms, butterfly treats and flowers to plant once they got home.
Addie was shy as to be expected but she was in good spirits throughout the party. I should never speak in front of groups as I wanted to thank everyone for coming and I just got choked up, I am such a cry baby. Once everyone left Addie talked non stop for the next several hours, it was as if she was trying to tell us all about her party. She was in such a good mood I wish we could do it all over again. I am so grateful to everyone who attended her little party, it was a great time.
Steps…3 to 4 wobbly unassisted little steps occurred tonight. I was so excited. She took a few to me and a few to daddy. There are no pictures or video to document this moment as the cameras would of distracted her from the task at hand. I love that Dave noticed she kind of started doing this today but waited until I got home to really test her.
On to a completely unrelated topic…..I have come to love morning times with Addie. The night time is a different story as sleeping through the night is such a distant memory. The mornings are her most precious time. This is the time when her active self is the most calm and relaxed. She loves nothing better than to sit with me in the rocker and just chill. It doesn’t last for long but I soak up every minute of it and I love it everyday. I hate when she sleeps too late in the mornings and this time is rushed, I think it gets us both off on the wrong foot for the day.

Itty bitty is 10 months old. Wow. This is such a fun and crazy age. She is starting mimic us and Daddy is loving her new little tricks he has taught her. She loves to clap, give high fives, find your belly button (that can be awkward at times), find your tongue. For the last week Dad is always proud to show off what new trick she has learned, it is so cute.

She is such a good little eater. She will eat anything, especially if Daddy or I am eating it, she wants it.
don’t worry, I didn’t really let her eat this cake, I just teased her with it, look at he look on her face :)
She is our little explorer. Loves to open anything that isn’t locked, open any door that isn’t shut. She is one curious cat and needs to be watched AT ALL TIMES.
She is a talker, but nothing that makes sense (with the exception of mama :) ). It’s pretty cute except when she only wants to scream at the top of her lungs in your ear. Not sure how to stop this habit yet as she does get a little crazy with it.
She is a climber. It is so cute to watch her little chubby legs try to hoist themselves up the side of the couch. One of her favorite games is to climb from the couch to the ottoman to the chair and back again, she will do this, over, and over, and over, and over again. It’s not so fun to watch her nose dive to the ground with no hesitation, we still need to keep a close eye on our little dare devil.
She is not really a walker. She still easily pulls up on anything and walks with ease while holding on and is one of the fastest crawlers out there. In the past month she has stood up on her own without assistance but if she needs to get from point A to point B she knows the fastest way to get there is crawling.
She is a good sleeper again, FINALLY. We are back to sleeping through the night again which I am very grateful for :)
She is shy, it takes her a few minutes to warm up to anyone new, especially men. Daddy has taught her already that boys are bad news :)
I could go on but that about sums up the things I don’t want to forget about this stage. I can’t believe our little love bug is almost 1.
We have had “put on child locks” on our to do list for over 10 months. Dave had the ambitious plan of getting this done right after Addie was born while he was off work. Needless to say it didn’t get done. We are finding ourselves in desperate need of gates or child locks or something. This crazy lady is exploring everything she can get her sticky little fingers on.
So we are pretty much officially done with baby food. She LOVES to feed herself almost anything. Her favorites always seem to be what you are eating. I caught her in the act of trying to climb up Dave’s leg last week when he was trying to get to his meal.
That girl is determined to have a bite of whatever you are having. She LOVES food.
